The Department has 7 qualified and experienced faculties of which six are doctorates and one is pursuing her Ph.D, which forms the backbone of the department. The result of the Mathematics subjects is consistently good and attains a success rate of 80% and above in the university examinations. The faculty members are guiding research students leading to Ph.D degree in Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi, and have published more than 80 papers in National/International journals and conferences. The thrust areas of research are in Fluid Mechanics, Analysis, Complex Analysis, Number theory etc. The faculty members are upgrading their knowledge in their respective domains by enrolling to NPTEL courses, Coursera, attending faculty development programs, seminars, workshops and by delivering guest lectures, presenting papers in the National/International conferences. The students are abreast about the latest developments and real-world applications of the concepts learnt in their curriculum. Few interested UG students are also involved in research under their guidance leading to publication. The department has organized Guest lecturers on topics like Numerical Methods, Fourier series and Transforms, Modeling and IQ development for the benefit of students by eminent speakers from reputed institutions such as Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The department has conducted a two days’ workshop on Wavelets in collaboration with dept of E & IE and one day National Symposium on Numerical Methods and its Applications in Research on 4th July 2018 under the umbrella of centre for interdisciplinary research.
